Men

Letchworth 1st XI 2-4 Pelicans
Bedford Town 3rd XI 0-1 Letchworth 2nd XI
Letchworth 3rd XI 0-7 Potters Bar 1st XI
Letchworth 4th XI 3-2 Royston 3rd XI
Bedford 4th XI 1-2 Letchworth 4th XI
St Albans Citizens 6-0 Letchworth 5th XI
Royston 5th XI 10-3 Letchworth 6th XI

The Men’s 1st XI indifferent form saw them lose at home to Pelicans and rue two disallowed goals. They now slip to 5th place in Premier B.

The 3rd XI’s heavy defeat to already promoted Potters Bar sees them needing to win away against Broxbourne 3rd XI in order to avoid the drop into Division 5 South West.

The 4th XI played two games over the weekend coming back from 2-0 down to emerge 3-2 victors against Royston 3rd XI and then defeating Bedford 4th XI away 2-1 on Sun, which moves them up to 4th place in Division 6SW.

The 5th XI require just one point for automatic promotion but lost heavily to St Albans Exiles, they remain top but need to win their last two games against Winchmore Hill & Enfield and Harpenden to win the league.

The 6th XI remain mid-table despite a heavy 10-3 defeat by bottom side Royston 5th XI.

Ladies

Broxbourne 3-2 Letchworth 1st XI
Vauxhall Chiltern 3-0 Letchworth 2nd XI
Letchworth 4th XI 0-2 West Herts 4th XI

The Ladies 1st XI went down 3-2 against Broxbourne and with a run of very tough games against teams above them in the league they most hope that the teams below them do not pick up too many points.

The Ladies 2nd XI also had a disappointing result and need to pick up points against Broxbourne or Bishop’s Stortford to remove any lingering relegation doubts.

After a 4 week break Letchworth Ladies 4th XI resumed their 5 Counties Div 5 League programme, at home to West Herts, on Saturday. Their depleted line-up provided the opportunity for 15 year old Yulya Mucha & 13 year old Louise Balcombe to make their league debuts. Both players acquitted themselves well against more experienced opposition but Letchworth struggled to match their Watford opponents particularly in the first half. They were grateful for an outstanding performance from another promising junior, Jo Allcock, in goal. However, even her heroics failed to stop the visitors from opening the scoring from a first half penalty corner. Letchworth fought back in the second half but could not break down the W. Herts defence & unfortunately conceded a second goal.

Next week they travel to fellow strugglers, Cheshunt, hoping to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
